The Moon,
a guardian,
sentinel to Mother Earth.
A beacon of hope for mankind,

but he also brings peace,
to other brave men.

Author Note: For this prompt I chose the speech President Nixon would have read out, had the Apollo 11 mission ended in disaster. A full transcript can be found here: Buzzfeed: 11 Incredibly Powerful Handwritten Letters from History.

I’ve not written poetry in a very long time…I’m guessing Primary School, maybe some Secondary School assignments! I had planned to use the prompt to write something other than poetry but I figure it can only help me improve as a writer so I should give it a go! I’d love to hear what you think in the comments below or on social media.
